Clark Park is located just across from Vicker’s with a little stream running through it. This park had a playground, picnic tables, porta potty, and parking lot.

3. Check out the historic site of Vicksburg first sawmill.

A hidden gem you can’t miss during a visit to Vicksburg is the site of the towns first saw mill. Before it was damed up when settlers moved here, this was the location of an 8 foot waterfall! After the sawmill was built, Sunset Lake formed. The easiest way to access this spot is by walking over from Clark Park - right across the street.

The Vicksburg Historic Village is both an indoor and outdoor museum open seasonally. During your day in Vicksburg, pop into the former depot building first to start off learning about Vicksburg’s early history. Plus it’s a great spot to learn more about the former train station and rail industry that once included a stop through Vicksburg. Then, spend time walking among the historic buildings of the village. Many, you can pop into to learn more about what the buildings represent throughout Vicksburg’s history and development. Just look for the open flags outside the building to know which you can enter.

5. Go for a walk or bike the Vicksburg Nature Trail.

After exploring the Vicksburg Historic Village, go across the street to walk or bike the paved Vicksburg Nature Trail. The Nature Trail is four miles round trip and passes through wooded areas and fields. There are also stops along the trail - some even with bicycle tools. The Vicksburg Nature Trail has its own parking lot just across the street from the Vicksburg Historic Village.

A little drive from town is the Sunset Lake Park. Here there is a Michigan State Historic Marker by the park explaining how at one point, there used to be an ice house at Sunset Lake that was used to harvest ice for the refrigerated rail industry. Today, Sunset Lake Park has a beach area, picnic pavilion, docks to fish from, and small playground.
