A “Little Red Schoolhouse” has been educating students since 1883. The original building was 24 x 32 feet, and it has since expanded to include additional classrooms, an admin building and new furnishings and equipment. This historic site was created only three years after the founding of Ballard itself, and it continues to educate students grades K-6 today. The bell still rings to summon students, and it is one of the top-performing schools in Santa Barbara County.
