Shelter Point is one of the best places in Campbell River to see the diverse sea life in the intertidal zone. It is easily accessible on foot, but kayaking around the point at low tide gives you a unique perspective of the bustling activity that takes place when the tide recedes.

3. Roll Along The Sea

Cruising the sea walk on wheels just hits different with the ocean breeze in your hair, you can ride the entire length of the sea walk in under an hour – faster if you’re looking for a work out, or at your own relaxing pace, either way it’s enjoyable. Local establishments 50th parallel and SoCal offer as pit stops for refreshments at either end. Evenings are enjoyable when the traffic has died down and you can catch the sunset on the coastal mountains, and who knows, you just might see some whales too!

4. Take a Day Trip to Quadra Island
Strathcona, BC
Hop on the ferry and explore Quadra Island. Only 15 minutes away, Quadra offers great hiking, beaches and photo ops. Bookmark the Chinese mountain trails, Rebecca Spit Provincial Park and Cape Mudge Lighthouse. Rumour has it there’s a Sasquatch somewhere on the island as well…

Pier fishing requires lots of skill but you’ll be rewarded with some of the nicest salmon of the year. While you wait for your rod tip to dance, grab an ice cream from the conveniently placed concession stand (open May to October). But eat quickly – you may need both hands at any moment….
