Sam Houston Jones State Park is home to more than 70 acres of longleaf pines, the oldest living southern pine species. The numerous waterways in this area make water sports a natural highlight at the park. Two boat launches are conveniently located on the West Fork of the Calcasieu River, providing access to Calcasieu Lake, about 20 miles away. The three hiking trails winding through this beautiful park make strolling or serious hiking, pleasurable.

The winding Lakefront Promenade caresses the lake as it provides a pleasant atmosphere for walkers, bikers and joggers from the Marina past the Civic Center to the Veterans War Memorial. Sulphur Parks & Recreation (SPAR) Waterpark offers fun in the sun for all ages. This wild wet destination has been expanded over the past two years, offering more slides, sprays, splashes, and spouts in Sulphur, LA. For kids of all ages, there’s a 600-foot-long Raging River, Larry’s Lazy River, and the Lagoon Pool. Younger guests will enjoy Patch’s Splash Pad and Splash & Play Island, with fountains, tipping buckets, small-scale slides, and not to mention a gigantic yellow bucket that dumps 500 gallons of water every two minutes.
