Located in the heart of Golden Gate Park right next to the SkyStar Wheel, visitors and locals alike are sometimes unaware the you can visit the top of the observation tower. There is street parking as well as garage parking a short walking distance from the museum and ferris wheel.

To access the Hamon Observation Tower, head towards the entrance of the de Yung Museum. If you have the time, be sure to buy tickets for the museum to enjoy the various world-renowned art installations and exhibits.

Once inside, look for the hallway behind the ticket counters on the right. Admission to the tower is completely free! If you get lost, any of the employees or volunteers can help direct you to the elevator for the tower. The entrance to the museum’s exhibits is to the left, but tickets are required.

If you’re just stopping by the museum for the observation tower, there is a small exhibit by the elevator, so you can still enjoy some of the art! There is rarely, if ever, a line to head up to the observation tower. Be sure to check the hours of the observation tower because it sometimes operates under slightly different hours from the museum.

Immediately upon stepping out of the elevator you are greeted with panoramic views of the city. Take your time perusing the views in all directions. You’ll soon wonder how you hadn’t noticed the tower or considered the possibility of being able to access the top of it.
