Campbell River

Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada

The Drifted Creations come from the mind of Alex Whitcombe a local artist who was inspired by his surroundings and began to construct elaborate creations out of the driftwood that covers our beaches. Many of his creations were donated as public art and are located throughout our region. With new sculptures popping up throughout the years finding them all has become a scavenger hunt for locals and visitors alike. Meet the creations below and start planning your hunt strategy.

Spruce Street

Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada

Bruce Arcturus Campbell the Bear, or Bruce on Spruce for short, because he is located on the end of Spruce Street along the Campbell River. Bruce is Driftwood Creation's newest piece in Campbellton River Village. He's fun, kind, protective, intelligent, curious, and our Guardian of the River! In case you're wondering where Arcturus came from, it means ‘bear guardian’ in Greek, which is appropriate for him as he looks out over the river while the bears are feasting on the salmon. So he will forever be our Bear Guardian.
