There are multiple vendors to choose from to rent kayaks and paddle boards. The Kayak Shack across from Morro Bay State Park Camp Grounds allows you to start your adventure further into the bay where there are hardly any boats. If you’d rather paddle around the Embarcadero, be sure to call ahead in the summer months because it can get a bit busy!

If you have your own equipment, there are a handful of accessible launch points as well. Coleman Park is a popular place to launch from by the Embarcadero. You can also launch from Morro Bay State Park at the launch site on Main Street just south of the Inn at Morro Bay or at the site by Bayside Cafe. Be sure to watch the tides to know when is best to set out on the water!

More often than not, you’re bound to see wildlife on the bay. Pelicans, migrant birds, sea otters, and sea lions all contribute to the natural beauty of the area. If you encounter wildlife, be sure to always keep your distance. If you’re a bird lover, paddle towards the rookery just south of the Inn at Morro Bay.
