The manor has a rich history dating back to 1920
Hickory Corners, Michigan, United States
I’m the early 1920s, W.K. Kellogg began building his 32 acre Gull Lake estate, Eagle Heights. It would become the summer home of W.K. and his second wife, Dr. Carrie Staines Kellogg. W.K. and Dr. Carrie moved into the Manor House in 1926 and immediately deeded the property to the city of Battle Creek, with the intention that the estate become a place “where all of Battle Creek may forever play.” As a stipulation of the agreement the Kelloggs were given a life lease of the estate. In 1942 they relinquished their life lease and deeded the property over to the U.S. government to be used by the Coast Guard as a training and induction center during WWII. The house was returned to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 1950. On October 6, 1951, W.K. Kellogg passed away, and the following year, the foundation gave the estate and all associated property to Michigan State College. W.K. Kellogg Foundation. On October 6, 1951, W.K.
