The building that we refer to as the Lodge is nestled in the Southwest corner of Louisiana in the heart of Cameron Parish (county). Its location at the end of the highway in a small rural settlement referred to as “Big Pasture”, gives it the name “Grosse Savanne” when translated to the French language. Easily accessible from Interstate 10, the Lodge is midway between Houston and New Orleans approximately 20 minutes south of Lake Charles, LA. This 12,000 square foot mansion in the marsh elegantly sits elevated above the landscape providing the best possible amenities for you to use as a base camp to explore the property.

Grosse Savanne now has two prime bass fishing areas available for your enjoyment. Within walking distance of the Lodge is a 70 acre lake, in a marsh style setting, that is fully stocked with native/florida cross largemouth bass. ​ Approximately 30 minutes from the Lodge is our newest and proudest addition to our bass fishing program. What we refer to as Miller's Lake, is a 484 acre bass fisherman's dream. With over 7 miles of canals and winding trails through marsh flats over 3 foot deep, you are sure to have a bass fishing experience of a lifetime. This impoundment is quickly becoming the most talked about bass fishing opportunity in the state of Louisiana.

Because fishing is such an integral part of our programming, we provide a number of resources for our guests, including expert guides to the marsh, Calcasieu Estuary, or the near coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico. ​ Grosse Savanne borders the finest saltwater fishing lake in the state-and possibly the finest coastal saltwater estuary in the country. Affectionately referred to by locals as "Big Lake," Calcasieu Lake is blessed with trophy speckled trout, drag stripping red fish, and giant flounder.

Are you ready to enjoy the South Louisiana Experience, but would rather a quiet, less formal evening on the banks of Calcasieu Lake? Then Grosse Savanne Lakeside is your place. Formerly Big Lake Guide Service Lodge, Grosse Savanne Lakeside is a great addition to the already incredible Grosse Savanne Experience. This 3,000 square feet duplex style lodge is capable of sleeping 6 guests on each side. Each side, the Redfish and the Bluefish, is fully furnished with 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, along with a living room and kitchen. Both units share a covered porch and screened patio with an incredible view of Calcasieu Lake. Barbeque pits, televisions, and wifi are also provided. After a night of relaxation in the Lodge, at sunrise you can walk across the yard to our private dock where guides will be waiting to take you on your saltwater fishing adventure. Upon completion of your fishing trip guides will process fish while you clean up or shower prior to departure.
