Experience Everglades National Park like never before by going on a wet walk through sawgrass prairies and cypress domes! This adventure, led by the Everglades National Park Institute, can be found about an hour south of Greater Miami and Miami Beach at the Homestead entrance of the park. You meet at the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center and then follow your guide to the slogging location.

Depending on the time of year you go on a Cypress Dome Wet Walk, you could be wading through several feet of water. Participants are given mosquito shirts and walking sticks to make the adventure more comfortable. You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes that have laces.

Our guide made sure we noticed the small, beautiful details in the cypress dome, like how the different water levels created a candy corn-like design on the trees.

We also spotted this small orchid growing in the cypress dome. How beautiful! In addition to plants and trees, we looked for wildlife. We saw several birds, including a black-crowned night heron.

You can book a Cypress Dome Wet Walk for your next visit to South Florida through the Everglades National Park Institute. It costs $40 per person (not including the entrance fee to the national park). Tours are offered daily at 10 am and 3:30 pm. You must be 12 years old and up to participate.
