Bogotá, Bogota, Colombia

Here’s how to spend a perfect day in Bogotá, Colombia: 8 a.m.: Start your day with a delicious Colombian breakfast spread at the beautiful Castanyoles restaurant, located on-site at the Four Seasons Casa Medina. 9 a.m.: Head to the Candelaria neighborhood, Bogotá’s historic center. 10 a.m.: Explore the colorful Barrio La Candelaria on a personalized tour with Galavanta. Don’t miss important sights like Chorro de Quevedo, the Botero Museum, Santuario Nuestra Señora de El Carmen (red striped church), and Plaza de Bolívar. 1 p.m.: Have lunch at the incredible Origen Bistro, where you can try typical Colombia food. If you want to taste something really traditional, get the “ajiaco”! 2:30 p.m. Make your way to the funicular to ride to the top of Monserrate, a mountain in Bogotá that sits at over 10,000 feet. While you’re on the mountain, I also suggest stopping at Casa Santa Clara for some hot chocolate and cheese. 4:30 p.m. End your day by visiting the Gold Museum, where you’ll learn about the importance of gold throughout Colombia’s history and get to see some amazing pieces dating back to pre-Columbian times.
