INDULGE IN TRADITIONAL MARDI GRAS FARE 😋
Louisiana, United States
Mardi Gras food and drink are wrapped in culture. Cajun fare can always be found at the events surrounding Mardi Gras in Louisiana, but the king cake reigns supreme. Thought to have been brought to New Orleans from France in 1870, it is an oval shaped pastry filled with cinnamon and sugar goodness in every bite! Traditionally the king cake sports the royal colors of purple, green, and gold with an item such as a coin or plastic baby hidden inside. For the person that receives the item in their piece of pastry, they are named “King” for a day and will traditionally host the next party providing the next king cake. In recent times the king cake can take on many forms and is equally delicious in every variation.

CATCH LOOT AT ONE OF MANY LOUISIANA MARDI GRAS PARADES ⚜️
Louisiana, United States
Probably the best-known festivity associated with the Mardi Gras Carnival season is the Mardi Gras parade! Many krewes around the state will organize parades full of wildly decorated floats, marching bands, dance crews, or costumed krewe members. Loot tossed from the floats and parade participants are the focus of the crowd. Loot is the “prize” of Mardi Gras and, depending on the parade, can consist of anything from beads and stuffed animals to toilet paper or vegetables. Parades are fun for everyone and the crowds attending make for a trove of entertainment. Parades roll in towns and cities big and small throughout Louisiana. Many parade goers arrive early to the parade routes to snag a good spot to watch the action. Plan a trip accordingly and when the parade rolls by yell “Throw me something, Mister”!
