The building was made famous by movie director, Steven Spielberg. He used it as a location in his feature-film debut, “Duel”. The Halfway House Cafe has been open since 1931. In the early 1900's, the farmers from Palmdale and the LA Market met here as a trading post. Because it's halfway between LA and Palmdale, the name "Halfway House' was born. In the 1960's, the café caught the attention of Hollywood and as a result, numerous movies, television shows and commercials have been filmed here. You may remember Cindy Crawford selecting a Pepsi here, a film called Waitress starring Keri Russell that was all about pie and Maverick aka Tom Cruise from Top Gun: Maverick stopping in to ask for a glass of water. Stop on by and see a piece of history and then find your table and order up! Specialties include the Huevos Rancheros, Eggs Benedict, French Dip Sandwich or the Haymaker Burger.
