In Halifax, the best Saturdays are spent at the Halifax Brewery Farmer's Market! Located on Lower Water Street, the Farmer's Market is a not-for-profit, member-run cooperative that is organized to support "small-scale, local food producers and artisans, and to be a positive force in the growth and sustainability of our local economy" (Halifax Brewery Farmer's Market). Here, you will find various vendors that all come together to create a social community amongst Halifax's locals. Come along with me as I explore all that the Halifax Brewery Farmers Market has to offer!

The first thing I came across was all of the fresh produce! There were so many different produce vendors from all around Nova Scotia, selling fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, and more. After leaving the market, I returned with fresh apples locally grown in the Annapolis Valley. The market is the best place to buy fresh and locally grown produce. The next time you need to go grocery shopping on a Saturday, check out the Halifax Brewery Farmer's Market first. You will find everything that you need!

My favourite part about the market is the local artists showing off and selling all their hard work to the community. Not only are the artists engaging with shoppers, giving them background information on their pieces and stories, but each artist is unique in their style, bringing their personality into their work. It is the perfect place to find the most amazing local artwork.

This artist uses watercolours and acrylic palette knives to create these gorgeous pieces. I even bought one myself!

Deborah Misener, a local artist, uses watercolours, acrylics and palette knife oils to create these stunning paintings. Deborah's unique style and use of bright colours make for beautiful pieces, and I could not leave without one of my own! I love how their work brightens the space, and I will definitely be back to buy more of their work! You can contact Deborah at watercolourspainter@hotmail.com or on Facebook @ Deborah Misener.

You will also notice that many of these vendors offer free food samples, like these Brazilian treats! "Made With Love by Cinthia" bakes various treats, like cakes, cupcakes, and Brigadeiros (Brazilian delicacies). Their treats were so delicious I could not leave without taking some home. Many of the vendors at the market are also expanding their businesses, like the Boutique Eatery, so be sure to keep an eye out!

Another one of my favourite finds at the Halifax Brewery Farmers Market was "Boutique Eatery with Naana & Daren". Currently, they are making many different food toppings, cooking spices, and tea blends, but they are growing their Boutique Eatery Experience into downtown Halifax. For more information on Boutique Eatery with Naana & Daren, check them out at www.boutiqueeatery.com or send them an email at happy@boutiqueeatry.com
