Our story begins with Felix himself, and the road that led him to open one of the most sought after southern BBQ restaurants in San Diego county. From the time Felix was twelve until he went off to college, he worked at a BBQ restaurant where he learned from owner James Mitchell. The thing that stuck out the most from Mr. Mitchell was “the flavor comes from the smoke”. After college, Felix chose to work in restaurant management and even bottled his own BBQ sauce. One day, Felix stumbled into a little place called Ruth’s Place and the two became good friends. Ruth made delicious southern food, and always dreamed of having a bigger place where people could come in and dine. Felix wanted to support Ruth's dream of opening a dine-in restaurant, so he found a location in Oceanside, CA and began the process. Unfortunately, she found out that she had cancer and was terminal. It wasn’t until he was driving home from her funeral that he decided to move forward with her dream. So began the wonderful journey of Felix’s BBQ with Soul!

His uncle was a very established restaurant owner throughout Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona. Enzo began to further his culinary expertise under his uncle’s guidance. In late 2005 Enzo took all his knowledge and love of American culture and decided to pour his heart and soul into one of America’s true food staples. And thus, Enzo’s BBQ and Alehouse was born.

The name, That Boy Good, is an old Southern slang term for good food and good music. Chef Mark met Miss Kim in Vail, Colorado. They both were part of an opening team for the Arrabelle, a new luxury destination hotel for Rock Resorts. Chef Mark wooed Miss Kim with his undeniable charm and they married in Maui in 2011. Chef Mark had always said he wanted his restaurant. Mark has completed a long time dream of opening his own restaurants. Miss Kim’s by That Boy Good opened in 2012 and That Boy Good opened in 2017 both in Oceanside California. With his wife Miss Kim by his side, they have created a fun southern style BBQ hot spot they are proud to share with all.
