Who doesn't love a day spent alongside a lake? Bishop has so many lakes nearby. Some you can drive right up to, while others require a bit more of a hike (literally)! **Please note that access to all of these lakes depends on road conditions. Most of the lakes are not accessible during the winter months due to snow.

South Lake
Inyo County, CA
South Lake is a wonderful day trip destination from Bishop. It is one of 3 major lakes that you can drive to and park nearby, which makes it accessible for most folks, and all ages. There is a boat launch, as well as hiking trails here. Bring a picnic, a jacket, and be prepared for something beautiful!! **Please note that access to all of these lakes depends on road conditions. Most of the lakes are not accessible during the winter months due to snow.

North Lake
Inyo County, CA
North Lake is also up Bishop Creek Canyon, and is a bit more of an adventure to drive to, as there is a section of the road that is pretty exposed. Anyone you ask will say it's worth the adrenaline because this sleepy little lake is spectacular for fishing, taking photos, and just taking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Past North Lake is the trailhead for Lamarck Lakes and Bishop Pass. **Please note that access to all of these lakes depends on road conditions. Lake Sabrina
Inyo County, CA
Lake Sabrina is the third lake that is accessible by car. There is a parking lot and a restaurant adjacent to the lake. South Lake also has boats for rent, is awesome for paddleboarding, and is a popular fishing destination. As you can see, fall is also a spectacular season to be here! **Please note that access to all of these lakes depends on road conditions. Big Pine Lakes

If you enjoy hiking, then Big Pine Creek has some fantastic lakes if you are willing to make the trek. It is a moderate to strenuous hike, with the first of the 7 lakes about 4 miles in. Second Lake, at 5.5 miles in is absolutely stunning!! *This trail is open roughly April through October, depending on snow.
