Love spectacular views when hiking? The newest trail in South Lake Tahoe over-delivers, with expansive views of Mt. Tallac, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Lake Tahoe. Lily Lake is a 1.65 trail that connects Lily Lake, located at Glen Alpine behind Fallen Leaf Lake, with Angora Lakes Resort.

Pair that hike with lunch at The Divided Sky in Meyers, a local bar and restaurant known for its cocktails, creative broiled sandwiches, and rotating soups. The Flagpole (sun-dried tomato pesto, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, grilled onions, Parmesan, and Mozzarella on Ciabatta) is a strong finish to a solid day of hiking and pairs well with one of their IPAs on tap. Located in El Dorado Hills near Folsom Lake, Monte Vista is a scenic three-mile loop that boasts various views, including the South Fork of the American River as it curves toward Folsom Lake. You may see wildflowers, green meadows, and birds depending on the time of year. It’s also home to poison oak in the summer, so be on the lookout and stay on the trail when exploring at that time of year.
