Escape the hustle and bustle of the nearby freeway with this easy and scenic hike. The lower loop is an easier gently sloping trail with oak trees, sage, volcanic rock formations, and more. The upper loop is a moderate hike, over 1 mile in length, with an approximate 600 foot vertical differential. Learn and discover as you go with posted signage about our local ecosystem. End with a stunning, panoramic view of Pleasant Valley and the hills of Camarillo.

CSUCI University Park is a 367 acre parcel located off Lewis Road separate but adjacent to the main academic campus. In 2009 the land was acquired by the University from the County of Ventura. The topography of the park includes steep mountain slopes of coastal sage and southern cactus scrub, wetlands and riparian habitat, and two small valleys. Calleguas Creek flows along the northern border of the park.

Along the way, there are wildflowers, birds, and a clear running creek. The path also offers a mix of shady spots with cool breezes, and warm sunny open spaces.
