No matter where you are along the 53 total miles of the River's Edge Trail system, you're sure to find great views of the fall foliage. This spot here between Black Eagle Dam and Giant Springs State park happens to be one of our favorites to enjoy the changing colors.

Sluice Boxes State Park
Cascade County, MT
Sluice Boxes State Park is loved by locals and visitors alike for its hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing opportunities. The rugged landscape is a beautiful backdrop to see the seasons come and go. It's a scenic 40 minute drive to get to this view from Great Falls. Pack your hiking boots or just go for a drive through the cliffs and canyons.

Located near downtown, Gibson Park is home to a lovely walking path, a plethora of trees, and Gibson Pond. Take a stroll through the historic district and end in the park. Gibson Pond is also the spot where you can see the yearly Waterfowl Roundup! This fun, free, and family friendly event features park and rec staff wading in the pond to corral the waterfowl that call Gibson Pond home and move them to their bougie winter quarters fondly known as the Honker Hilton. This year it's scheduled for the morning of Friday, October 20th (weather pending).

This one is easy to get to and easy to appreciate. Broadwater Bay offers a boat ramp if you want to head out on the water, but you can also meander along the shore and get great views of the leaves as they transform. It's also close to the visitor center, so you can stop by and say hi while you're enjoying the beauty of Great Falls!
