The impressive Danube Delta was declared UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1990. It is the third-richest biosphere reservation in the world in terms of biodiversity and the only delta in the world with biosphere reservation status. It is home to more than 9,500 species of flora and fauna and, scientists believe, still more species are yet unknown

Vânători-Neamț, NT

It is the only place in Europe where the bison can be seen, in the same area, in captivity, quasi free conditions and wilderness. Starting with 2012, 17 individuals roam completely free in the forested area of the park, being monitored with GPS and radio-collar. The park administration developed a safari programme which allows tourists to meet the bisons in their natural habitat.
