The ore carrier Valley Camp is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and now holds the largest Great Lakes Maritime Museum with over 100 detailed exhibits inside her cargo holds. Open mid-May through mid-October, hours vary. Last tickets are sold 1 hr. before closing so be sure to plan ahead!

Tour the pilot house and see the deck from the Captain’s vantage along with all the navigational tools used to pilot the ship. The entire ship is handicap accessible except for the pilot house.

Museum Ship Valley Camp offers more than just a tour of the deck! The 20,000 square foot cargo holds that once held freight are now filled with hundreds of artifacts, paintings, shipwreck items, and exhibits related to Great Lakes memorabilia, appealing to any age.

Watch an hour-long presentation about the events of November 10, 1975 which caused the tragic loss of one of the Great Lakes’ largest freighters. Two of the actual lifeboats from the SS Edmund Fitzgerald are on display and are among the very few major artifacts recovered after its sinking.

Four 1,200-gallon aquariums are stocked with various species of fish found right in the Great Lakes. Stepping stools are provided for children so that visitors of all ages are able to enjoy watching the fish in this unique habitat.
