The highly anticipated 2024 Mullet Toss is happening April 26 through 28, right on the beach at the legendary Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar.

All ages can partake as the competition is divided into categories by age and gender. Prizes and bragging rights are awarded to the winners of each category. It costs $20 to participate, and all tossers receive a t-shirt. The cover charge to enter the venue is $15 for those 21 and older and $20 for ages 16-20, while those 15 and under are free.

A contribution of each thrown fish goes to local youth charities. Each year, the event raises over $40,000 for organizations helping local schools and drug prevention programs on both sides of the state line. After the event, the tossed mullets are donated to Alligator Alley in Summerdale for the alligators to eat.

In addition to throwing dead fish, this weekend-long beach party includes lots of entertainment. The party doesn’t stop when the tossing ends at 4 pm. Winners are announced at 4:30 daily, and then the Flora-Bama keeps the fun going. Stay after dark to enjoy more live music and delicious drinks. Please note that only those over 21 are allowed in Flora-Bama after 6 pm.
