The museum was founded in 2011, and it opened its public gallery in 2013 as North America’s first and only museum devoted to Somali culture. It’s the only museum of Somali culture anywhere in the world!

The museum is located just ten minutes south of downtown. It’s in the lower level of the Jigjiga Business Center, and there is a free lot behind the Plaza Verde Building, off of 15th Avenue S.

The museum displays a collection of over 700 pieces, and it also offers educational programs about Somali traditional culture. The museum is a space for everyone to learn and respect Somali culture.

The museum is opened Tuesday and Friday from 3-7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm. General admission is $11 per Adult and $8 per Youth or Senior. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
