Mabel Lake is a stunning destination all year! In the fall, it’s a great place for end-of-season camping and enjoying the last of the Okanagan’s beautiful weather. The road to Mabel Lake is paved until the last few hundred meters, where it turns to dirt but is still well maintained. RVs will have no trouble.

The campsites are large, private, and surrounded by trees! Each site has a campfire ring, picnic table, and large gravel pad.

Mabel Lake has 114 campsites (100% reservable) and one group site. It’s open from late March to early October; the exact dates vary yearly. To reserve a site, visit BC Parks’ website. There’s no cell service here — relax and enjoy your late season camping trip! It’s still quite busy in the fall, but if you keep an eye out you can grab a campsite. I reserved mine less than a week before going in September. It’s also still warm enough to sleep in a tent (most of the time).

The crystal clear water at Mabel Lake is beautiful! The 35km lake has lots of explore. There’s a boat launch in the park where you can launch a boat, paddle board, kayak, or canoe. If you’re feeling brave, you can even go for a swim at one of the many beaches along the lake. Late season fishing is also available, just make sure to purchase a fishing license.

There’s so much to explore! There are three beaches at Mabel Lake — one dog beach at the south end near the boat launch and two non-dog beach along the rest of the campground. There’s a playground in the day-use area, numerous large grassy areas in both the campground and day-use, and even a small store near the boat launch!

There’s no shortage of things to explore at Mabel Lake Provincial Park! A hiking trail runs along the shore from the day-use section all the way to the north beach of the campground. Other trails connect the campground loops. Who knows what you’ll find?

Cozy up with a blanket to watch the sunset and go stargazing!
3638 Lumby-Mabel Lake Rd
Lumby, BC
Mabel Lake is a great place to go stargazing! It’s very dark and you’ll have a perfect view of the stars from the lakeshore (and even your campsite through the trees). It does get a little chilly at night in the fall, so come prepared with a cozy blanket and warm drink! The sunset is on the opposite side of the lake from the campground so you’ll also be treated to a beautiful show across the water.

There’s often a fire ban in the early fall, so bring a campstove to cook. At night, use a portable propane campfire to sit around.

There are often fire bans in the fall which, unfortunately, means no wood burning campfires. You can use a portable propane campfire to sit around at night instead. If you rely on a campfire for cooking, you’ll need to bring a cook stove.

Head down the dirt road to find this stunning waterfall!
North Okanagan, BC
6.5km from the campground is Cascade Falls. It’s located on an active logging road and a radio is highly recommended. There’s also a rec site at the trailhead where you can tent camp. The trail to Cascade Falls is short, but can be quite difficult depending on the time of year due to the nearby creek which can cause washouts. The fall is a good time to visit because the water levels are much lower.
