Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper is a rare and precious stone only found in the foothills west of Morgan Hill. It's distinguished by its orbs of vibrant oranges and reds. The pattern is stunningly depticted in etched glass panelling on the Downtown Morgan Hill parking garage staircase. The area is also known for annual tarantuala migration, which is why the other side of the garage features a whimsical spider sculpture!

Hiram Morgan Hill and his wife lived in Morgan Hill long ago and the town was named for the railroad stop at the "Morgan Hill place." The Morgan Hill House has been preserved and now serves as a historic space at the Villa Mira Monte estate, also containing a history musuem, centennial history path, and rose garden.
