So we’ve compiled a non-exhaustive list of some of Campbell River’s most iconic viewpoints to watch the sunset (or sunrise). 1) Discovery Fishing Pier
Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada
The Discovery Fishing Pier is a historic Campbell River location, along with being Canada’s first saltwater fishing pier. Located next to the Government Wharf, it extends out 45 metres from the shore and is 183 metres long – making it a popular spot for avid shore fisherman and ocean lovers alike. And with the Discovery Passage and Quadra Island in the background, the Discovery Pier offers 360-degree views for sunset.

2) The Beach

One of our favourite spots to watch the sunset is from a secluded beach while sitting around a beach fire with friends. This beautiful corner of Vancouver Island is blessed with access to both the sheltered Salish Sea and the open Pacific ocean. The region’s beaches, oceanside promenades and many wild places provide a menu of choices for oceanside sunsets. Or take to the sea and watch the sunset from a boat, kayak or stand-up paddleboard!

3) Menzies Mountains
Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada
The Menzies Mountains will spoil you with views making it the perfect lookout for sunset. It is a bit more challenging to get to; however, this usually means you'll have the place to yourself. The access point is off of Island Highway and is a 9.7 kilometre trail that visitors can hike or drive up. If you want to drive, a 4x4 SUV is recommended, as it is very steep and unpaved.
